Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where are you located?

  • Canary Counseling Center is centrally located in Pinellas County at 1101 Belcher Rd S, Suite J, in Largo FL, 33771. The practice is located within Integrity Counseling.

2. How do I schedule an appointment?

3. What should I expect on my first session?

  • On your first session, plan to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out the necessary forms. The "intake session" will be longer than the following sessions. It is during this time that I will gather the necessary background information and  discuss your personalized goals for your treatment and come up with a plan together to help you reach those goals.

4. How long are sessions and how often do I need to come in?

  • All individual sessions are 50 minutes in length and intake sessions are 75 minutes.
  • Most clients come in weekly for sessions although in certain situations, we may agree to meet more or less than once per week.
  • For Intensive Outpatient sessions, you will come in between three to four times a week and the session lengths may be longer.

5. How much does each session cost?

  • Initial intake sessions cost $150 and each additional session costs $120. A limited number of negotiated fee appointments are available weekly for individuals with financial concerns. Payment is due at the time of service. Cash, check, all major credit cards are accepted for payment.

6. Do you accept insurance?

  • In order to ensure complete confidentiality and treatment without limitations, I do not accept insurance.  Using private pay keeps your sessions 100% confidential since I am the only one who will see your records. If I were to bill insurance, I would be required to provide a diagnosis to your insurance company which has the potential to raise your deductible. Additionally, insurance companies often have a limited number of sessions you are eligible for each year. By not taking insurance, there is no limit to the amount of sessions you can receive.
  • Following your sessions, I can provide a receipt of services if you wish to submit with your insurance for possible reimbursement or submit at the end of the year with your taxes as a deduction.

7. How can I find out if I am eligible for reimbursement?

  • There are several questions you should ask your insurance company:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services?
  2. What portion of the amount I paid will I be reimbursed?
  3. What is the procedure for obtaining reimbursement?

8. What is your cancellation policy?

  • I understand that unexpected things may come up that prevent you from making your session. If this is the case, you have 24 hours prior to your appointment time to cancel to avoid being charged your full session fee.
